Complete Direct Response Copywriting Services
Welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
One of the benefits of working with me as your direct response copywriter is that I have decades of experience selling, marketing, writing, and with analytics (big data, regression analysis, and category management). My depth and breadth includes Fortune 500 companies and niche businesses, in both B2B and B2C.
I focus on writing copy for the consumer product, retail, finance, health, and technology industries.
Sometimes people ask me about my process. What’s it’s like to work with me. So here’s a quick Q&A about my copywriting services. Please, don’t hesitate to send me a note if you have any other questions.
Here are the top questions I’m asked…
“WHAT ARE YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AS A COPYWRITER AND MARKETER?”
Since 2003, I’ve written for companies who market across the globe. I specialize in B2B and B2C for the consumer product, retail, health, finance, and technology industries. My copywriting consistently surpasses my clients’ goals, helping them achieve results, fast. In my corporate and entrepreneurial life, I have never missed a single goal, quota, or revenue target. I’ve sold over a billion dollars worth of products (not many people can say that).
Before having my own copywriting and strategy business, for 20 years I climbed the ladder at Fortune 500 companies—Johnson & Johnson/McNeil Consumer Products (Tylenol), Heublein (wine and spirits), Pillsbury, Frito-Lay/PepsiCo, and Whole Foods Market, where I was the president of several subsidiaries.
I was the president of Whole Foods Markets’ direct marketing/mail companies. Not only did I lead teams of copywriters, marketers, designers, web developers, and graphic artists, but I helped Whole Foods start several direct marketing businesses. We sold hundreds of millions through the mail, on the phone, and in stores. I helped launched their first websites, too. (I also ultimately sold their direct marketing companies for them.)
Since then, I’ve been engulfed in copywriting, internet strategies, engagement and omnichannel marketing, and mobile and digital strategies. With experience in Big Data, both in regression analysis (direct marketing) and leading teams of Fortune 500 category managers (consumer products), I have unique experience and expertise in direct response copywriting.
I am very strategic about my career, exploring new channels, trends, and technology. I left the corporate world to become an entrepreneur. I wanted to try my hand at having my own business—and writing. Besides being a published novelist and poet, I also created my own six-figure information product, sold on the internet. (I marketed it and wrote all the copy.) My consulting practice has grown by word of mouth and through some targeted internet strategies, and my clients continued to ask me to write their copy.
Based on trends and needs and a passion for business writing, I strategically moved into direct response copywriting—and that’s working for me.
I have real world knowledge about people, sales, marketing, and business. People call me a strategist. And I’ve been called a “turnaround artist” (even in the newspaper) because people call me when they’re either stuck or need help growing their business beyond their current plateau. They want to take advantage of new technology and employ engagement marketing. They need an experienced direct response copywriter.
As far as copywriting… Well, like I said, I wandered into that, like many of us do.
I’d been writing multi-million dollar sales presentations, creating sale funnels, writing brochures, and web content, ad copy, financial reports, venture capitalist reports, mergers and acquisition analysis, etc. for years. My consulting clients kept asking me to write more: white papers, case studies, sales letters, video sales letters, email campaigns, sales funnels, sales presentations, telemarketers scripts, and on and on. You get the picture.
I never stop honing my skills. With a masters in language and communication, an undergraduate degree in business, and MBA studies under my belt, it’s obvious I love to learn. I continue to take online courses, to keep up-to-speed on new technology and trends, and gain consumer insights. I’ve graduated from several highly specialized courses, including direct response copywriting specialty courses, and I’ve attended prestigious, invitation-only fiction writing conferences. I regularly attend copywriting, internet marketing, and writing workshops, bootcamps, and seminars.
My passion is copywriting using engagement marketing—omnimarketing strategies plus direct response copywriting.
What’s that mean? It means I write copy to reach your consumers and customers, wherever they are, whatever they’re doing, however they’re looking for and buying your products and services. And I get them to take action that benefits them and you.
My training includes copywriting, professional selling skills, consumer product marketing, direct marketing, analytics, website development, people skills, personality profiling, and writing fiction, poetry, and business content.
A sometimes member of the Direct Marketing Association, I am a member of American Writers & Artists.
A published novelist and poet, I also own a real estate investment company—and I actively trade stocks and options.
“DO YOU HAVE A DIRECT RESPONSE AND COPYWRITING BACKGROUND?”
I am a B2B and B2C direct response copywriter. I’ve been writing copy for the consumer product, retail, health, finance, and technology industries.
Besides leading Whole Foods Markets’ direct marketing/mail companies — which included direct marketing marketers, MARCOM, direct response copywriters, graphic artists, web developers, call center specialists, etc. — I continue to take professional copywriting courses. Sometimes a member of the Direct Marketing Association, I am a member of and have taken multiple courses with American Writers and Artists, the industry leader in training copywriters.
My specialty is direct response marketing—call to action sales writing. My passion is writing direct response copy that grows revenue and increases customer lifetime value. I focus on Engagement Marketing and Ominchannel Marketing. To do that, I use my Fortune 500 background, skills, talent, passion, knack, and know-how in every direct response project. That’s what I love doing.
After 30 years of sales, marketing, and copywriting, I’ve sold over a billion dollars worth of products and services, written sales letters, articles, sales presentations, brochures, white papers, case studies, special reports, email campaigns, product descriptions, taglines, advertorials, sidebars, and all kinds of website and print copy for people just like you.
My passion is applying consumer insights to help you connect with your prospects, generate more and better leads, and nurture relationships. With my copy, I get fence sitters, tire kickers, and web searchers to take action. And to get them to keep coming back.
“DO YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE IN MY FIELD?”
Let’s be honest. I don’t hide the fact that I’m not 20-something. If you want to work with me, it’s because you’re looking for depth and breadth, to help your business grow fast, but you also want a copywriter who has been there, done that, and who is also on top of the trends, new technology, and ways of marketing, including engagement and omnichannel.
If you are a business that reaches out to consumers or other businesses, B2C or B2B, chances are I already have experience dealing with your product or service — either in your category directly or something similar.
Here are just some of the industries I’ve successfully written for: consumer products, retail, nutraceuticals, software, SEO companies, technology, finance, health, music, pet, personal development, non-profits, business opportunities, food, food service, natural and organic products, lifestyle, doctors, dentists, chiropractors… I’m panting now… Let’s just say many, many products and services…
Take a look at my clients on this site. I’ve included some but not all, and I’ll keep adding those that I think will pique your interest. You can also see what some of my clients are saying here. Give me a call, and we can discuss your specific needs.
Regardless, rest assured that I only work with organizations and businesses that I feel I can write passionately about and fiscally help. Frankly, that’s how I’ve been so successful. I believe in what I sell. And that’s my secret for writing copy that produces results.
“WHAT KINDS OF ASSIGNMENTS DO YOU HANDLE? AND DON’T HANDLE?”
I cover a broad spectrum. In my business, I focus on engagement marketing with direct response copywriting, such as sales letters, white papers, case studies, video sales letters, email campaigns, sales funnels, special reports, web content, advertorials, sidebars—anything to do with customer value optimization or building lifetime customer value, etc. And I love helping my clients incorporate digital strategies, Big Data, and omnichannel marketing, like mobile.
Many of my clients have asked me to help them develop and design their websites—because they want call-to-action copywriting incorporated with their marketing. Nowadays, Engagement Marketing (and Ominchannel Marketing) are not only necessary but critical. Though I do have experience developing websites, I no longer do that work myself for organizations. See my website services page here for some direction—and my vision on what makes a great direct-response website so valuable.
Often I’m also asked to create marketing materials that tie-in with your business strategy, including advertorials, print ads, taglines, feature articles, slide presentations, video sales scripts, telemarketing scripts, press releases, newsletters, speeches, web pages, and other Internet- and print-based campaigns. I do all of that.
What don’t I do? I don’t write entire information products or ghostwrite books, and I no longer personally develop small business websites. Frankly, other copywriters would enjoy writing your daily, social media posts more than I would. (But social media is an important part of your marketing strategy.) If you need help with your social media, I know plenty of copywriters that focus there.
My special knack is being able to understand your business quickly… And help you grow. When it involves strategy, that’s where I excel.
Clients know that I can sit down with top executives, CEOs, CFOs, CMOs, Executive VPs, Big Data Scientists, marketing managers, sales team leaders, techies, creative talent, and anyone that works with you. I can speak their language. Because I’ve been there.
Though I can’t predict how many responses my direct response copywriting will pull for you — so much will depend on what you do with the copy I write — I can tell you that I know how to get results.
And I guarantee your satisfaction with the copy you receive from me.
“DO YOU OFFER CONSULTING SERVICES ALONG WITH YOUR COPYWRITING?”
Yes, I consult. I have been a consultant for over 12 years. I’ve work primarily with Fortune 500s and medium-sized businesses. Sometimes I team up with larger consulting companies that need my expertise in consumer products and engagement marketing.
My consulting ties-in with my clients’ Engagement Marketing and digital strategies, their desire to link Big Data to copy, their Omni-marketing approach, and all their direct response copywriting needs. Consumer product and retail organizations often bring me in to help them with sales and marketing strategies and tactics. I help reorganize organizations so they more fully use their resources and can grow fast.
The trends have been and are moving more towards Engagement Marketing, Ominchannel Marketing, Mobile, Big Data, and Cloud Computing. That’s good for me because that’s where I headed, too.
Strategy. Marketing. Sale. Copywriting. Management. Those are my things—where I can make the most impact for your company, fast.
My consulting clients now are mostly mid-sized companies or Fortune 500s, unless I’m working with one of my long-term entrepreneurs. That doesn’t mean I won’t work with you if you’re a smaller business. It just means you have to have a budget.
I’d be happy to speak with you about it. Click here to see about my consulting services.
“OKAY. WHAT DOES IT COST TO HIRE YOU FOR A PROJECT?”
For any copywriting assignment — whether a direct response sales letter, email campaign, brochure, white paper, case study, sales funnel, or website content — let me know what you have in mind, and I’ll quote you a price.
For consulting clients, same thing. Let’s talk to see if I can help you.
Before I begin any project – or quote a fee – I spend some time with you to understand your needs. I like to know how your project fits into your overall goals and mission, and envision how my services can give you maximum results.
My purpose is to increase your revenue and profit, and grow your customer lifetime value. I help you generate more and better leads, and build relationships. I can only do that — and will only accept projects — if I understand what you want to accomplish, and if I feel I can help you. (I’m really not just in this for the money. I like being part of a team that gets results.)
When we discuss your investment in my services, you’ll know exactly what you’re getting. I don’t change my prices. I deliver what I say I will, when I say I will, and for how much I quote.
You can rest assured that I will clearly understand your project. I’ll know what needs to happen for you to achieve success. And I want to be part of you achieving your vision of success.
“WHOM HAVE YOU WORKED WITH … AND WHAT DO THEY SAY ABOUT YOUR COPY AND COUNSEL?”
The list of companies I’ve worked with — and brands and services I’ve helped grow — is extensive. My list includes some of the greatest consumer product companies in the world, such as Johnson & Johnson, Pillsbury, Heublein (now Diageo), Frito-Lay/PepsiCo, and Whole Foods Market (direct marketing, nutraceuticals, coffee).
In my career, I have worked with thousands of retailers — biggies like Whole Foods Market, Walmart, Safeway, Kroger, Target, CVS, 7-Eleven, Walgreens, and specialty stores and moms and pops across the nation. I’m not sure there’s a single retailer I haven’t called on. I’ve worked with Jamba Juice and Subway. Real estate companies to non-profits. I’ve worked internationally, too, with businesses in Australia, New Zealand, Russia, China, England, Singapore, New Zealand, South Africa, and France.
And since I left the corporate world, I’ve helped 100’s of companies.
You can see a list of some of the companies I’ve worked with by clicking here.
Frankly, in my 30+ years, I’ve worked with a lot of companies. Check with me, and I’ll happily supply you with referrals from happy clients.
“HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE YOU TO WRITE MY COPY?”
That depends. Until I know the parameters of your project and what your specific needs are, I won’t know. Be assured, however, I won’t accept a project if I can’t do it in the timeframe you need.
I always factor in enough time to research extensively, think, create, write, and re-write, polish, edit, and revise until I’m satisfied with every word. (Hmm…That sounds a lot longer than it takes me.) However, your satisfaction is very important to me.
Sometimes, you need projects finished fast. I get it. If you have a rush job, just let me know. I always accommodate my long-term clients first. (That may be you soon.) But if I can make it work within my schedule, I certainly will.
If I take on your project, I guarantee you will have the copy on your desk by the deadline we agree on — or sooner. You can depend on me.
“WHAT HAPPENS IF WE WANT YOU TO REVISE THE COPY?”
Of course I’ll revise. I love it when people love my work, right off the bat, but it’s completely understandable if you need changes. All you have to do is tell me what you want improved and what the changes are, and I’ll make them … fast.
There is NO CHARGE for rewriting. Revisions are included in the flat fee we’ve agreed on for the assignment, provided they are assigned within 30 days of your receipt of the copy and are not based on a change in the assignment.
My clients are typically pleased with my services. But if you are not 100% satisfied, I will revise the copy according to your specific guidelines … and at my expense.
“HOW DO I ORDER FROM YOU?”
Putting me to work for you is simple. Call or write me. We’ll talk. If you do email me and don’t get a call or note back, please call. Whether we like it or not, email isn’t always reliable. And I always return emails and phone calls. Always.
When we talk, first I’ll ask you to tell me about your product or service. I’ll want to know where you are now with your business — and where you want to be. We’ll discuss your target market and your ideal marketing approach. What do you hope to gain with your copywriting strategy? I’ll also need to know your budget.
If I can help you — and we’re a good fit for each other — I’ll need you to send me your materials, like sales letters, brochures, catalogs, a sample product, website content, and any literature that will give me insight into your product or service and your prospects. Background information is critical to write great copy. (I’m also a great researcher on my own.)
You can send me a big, hot mess if you’d like to. It won’t bother me. I’ll organize it. And if I have any questions, I’ll pick up the phone or send you an email and ask.
When you give me the go-ahead, and have paid your 50% deposit, I’ll write the assignment for you. You’ll receive your copy on or before the deadline date. And you’ll have this guarantee from me: you will be pleased, or I’ll re-write the copy.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.
I hope we’ll be working together soon… Let me write your next white paper, case study, direct response sales letter, email campaign, website buildout, and content. I promise you’ll be delighted with the results.
Best to you,
P.S. If you have an immediate need, you can click here now and contact me. Give me a brief description of the project, and I’ll get back to you within 48 hours (or sooner). There’s no charge to discuss your job with me. Estimates are free. And there’s certainly no obligation to hire me. Contact me today though. My schedule fills up fast — and I can only accept new clients briefly each year.
